Beating Stress
QUICK TIPS TO HELP YOU PICK UP YOUR ENERGY LEVEL
The demands of modern life can place a
strain on both the mind and body. Many people must fight a daily
battle to successfully juggle the demands of work and family. If
too much work, stress, daily chores, or not enough sleep have
gotten to you, here are some tips to help you pick up your
strength and feel renewed.
Don't let aerobics scare you. They are the best energizers around. But you don't have to go to an hour long class. Try fifteen minutes of walking, jogging, bike riding or fast dancing (even if you are alone) to your favorite music. Any of these will give you a fast energy boost.
Try
going to a salon for a change. Get yourself a manicure, massage,
or even a pedicure.
If your muscles seem tense,
or you have a sore neck from sitting at your desk all day, try
this quick exercise for relief. Put your feet together sitting in
a tall chair, clasp your hands together behind your neck with
your elbows open and your stsomach in. Curl down slowly. Next
exhale as you draw your elbows in until they are resting on your
thighs. Hold and count to four. Now slowly return to your sitting
position and inhale. Do this ten times.
How about a refreshening masque. Men and women alike - try a peel
off mask from a reputable company.
Are your feet tired after shopping or walking? Try a "fire
and ice" footbath. Sit on the edge of your tub and alternate
between steamy hot and icy cold water. Soak two minutes in hot,
then two minutes in cold. Repeat.
Try to eat high carbo food, like wheat grain breads and
cereals, fresh fruits and nuts for all day liveliness. They will
help you have a steady stream of energy. If you know you are
going to have a really busy day- try to eat alot of small meals
instead of three large meals. This will help you have non-stop
vitality.
If your day has been extremely long and hectic, give yourself a
break and try meditation to help you soothe your body and mind.
Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight and your
legs crossed. Lower your head until your chin rests comfortably
on the hallow between your collarbones. Next, stretch your arms
out straight and rest the back of your wrists on your knees.
Touch the tips of your index fingers to the tips of your thumbs,
keeping the rest of your fingers extended. Close your eyes. ThinK
pleasant and relaxing thoughts. Inhale and exhale deeply.
