Purpose of the Jerusalem Temple Clown Unit

To bring joy and happiness into the lives of the underprivileged and/or crippled or burned children who are confined to hospitals or other institutions, through the performance of costumed clown acts, clown antics and other clown activities.

To entertain members of the Jerusalem Temple, and other Masonic, civic, religious, or worthy organizations.

ACTIVITIES

The Jerusalem Temple Clown Unit performs at local parades (Mardi Gras, etc.) and festivals, Shrine Outreach Clinic, Annual Shrine Circus, New Orleans WYES Public Television fund raiser and membership drive, Cystic Fibrous Walk-A-Thon, Special Olympics, Leukemia Society, Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, local children’s hospitals, birthday parties, reunions, and grand openings of local businesses.

All donations to the Clown Unit go to support Shrine activities. The Clown Unit’s primary support is for the Jerusalem Temple Transportation Unit, which transports crippled burned and handicapped children to the Shrine hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Galveston, Texas.
